Software For Graphics Information
The definition of software for graphics is image editing software. Image editing software is a program or a series of programs built together to help users manipulate visual elements on a computer. These visual elements can be are included into two categories: vector graphics and raster graphics. To understand how to use the different software for graphics out there it is imperative that you first learn and understand these two main categories.
Most say that it is much easier and faster to learn vector graphics before learning about raster graphics. The key difference is vector graphic image files are mainly composed of a series paths or lines that can either be curved or straightened. So this means that these images can be scaled without loosing image quality. On the other hand raster graphic image files are made up of pixels witch can be a little bit more complicated. Most software for graphics built today are mainly built specifically for one or the other ( vector graphics or raster graphics) although there are a few graphics software out there that combine both in a very useful way. This is way often recommending as the way you need to learn them.
It is also very important to pick the best software for graphics suited to you're needs. Choosing the wrong one can often be extremely frustrating to understand and really more difficult than needs to be. There are programs that try to convert raster to vector witch is much more difficult than converting the other way around. Be wary of these because they often bring a more complicated ways of learning that is just unnecessary especially for the beginner.
Also most software for graphics out there today usually can upload and save a nice variety of different graphic file formats. Graphic file formats are basically the image file format. You can detect these by looking at the three letters after the dot at the end of the file name. for example .JPEG or .JFIF , .IMG, .JBG etc...

I am looking for a program that will allow me to create my own artwork and designs, such as filling in hollow alphabet letters with designs and other graphics.

Yes it will...also you can use Paintshop Pro and Photoshop. Heres a greats site to learn the tricks.
