Electric motor is used to provide driver for suction while fan starts and keeps the suction mechanism running.

Then the first "motorized" cleaner came to birth in 1899. It was invented by John Thurman. After that, Hubert Booth in London devised the first electric vacuum which was big and inconvenient to operate. Later, in a long period of time, kinds of vacuums came up. And James Spangler invented the first portable suction cleaner and the real popular vacuum appeared on the scene at that time.
The electric vacuum cleaner now is really easy to operate because of the small size and powerful functions. More and more people find it useful in daily life.
